Well, it’s happening folks! Six months of planning, saving, working and waiting has finally come to a close and I’ve begun my trip to New Zealand!
It’s going to be a long next 24 hours but that’s okay, I have my LOTR books ready to go so I will not get bored!! I will not get bored.. I.. Will.. Not.. Get.. Bored..
Okay, so I’m already bored. First layover and it’s already too many. The next 24 hours of my life will be spent on planes and I could not be more thrilled.
As tradition goes, my entire family – parents, brother, future sis in law, grandparents and baby cousins/sisters/nieces/daughters (I’m only speaking of two individuals here, in case you didn’t know) – met up at Ihop for breakfast and then drove over to the airport together and they all watched me take off.
We ate lots of food.
We ran around the airport.
I was tired from barely sleeping last night in anticipation for today.
Mom was sad.
That’s how the morning went and it was wonderful – aside from the immediate exhaustion and Mom being sad, of course.
Now, I’m chillin’ alone in the airport, reading The Fellowship of the Ring and already wanting these next 24 hours to be over but it’s okay.. I’ll just kill the time on MY THIRTEEN HOURS STRAIGHT ACROSS THE OCEAN FLIGHT by watching as many scary movies as I can fit into one nonstop sitting.
Yeah, so the journey has begun.
Now, excuse me while I go eat all the McDonald’s that my wallet can handle.
Alright, I think it’s time I addressed my next big trip and gave you guys some details..
Drum roll, please!
My next trip will be.. A month long backpacking trip throughout New Zealand! Words cannot describe the excitement I have for this trip!
How did NZ become my next grand adventure? Easy, my best friend from my time in Paris is from there so that means that not only am I going on one of the grandest adventures of my life but I’m also being reunited with my other half! So, when I say words can’t describe my excitement, I truly mean it.
Not only am I ecstatic at the thought of tackling her with hugs but I’m also ecstatic at all the things we already have planned for our time together; whale watching, bungee jumping, many, many hikes, camping, mountain climbing, Hobitton (!!), thermal springs, the list goes on and on.
New Zealand is known as the adventure capital of the world and I’m so ready for all of the adrenaline junkie shenanigans I’m going to get us into. After a full year in my beautiful city of Paris, I’m thrilled at the thought of this next trip being an outdoorsy one.
And I’m not going to lie, knowing that I’ll get to explore the land of The Lord of the Rings makes me want to cry with happiness. I’ll be like a hobbit exploring the boundaries of Middle Earth.. Looking at you Bilbo and Frodo! Those mountains.. The Shire.. All of it is too much for my eager mind to handle right now!
There you have it, my next grand adventure! And now if you’ll excuse me, I have to get back to my trip preparations (reading The Hobbit)!
Preparations have officially begun for my next big adventure and tonight I’m cuddled up with this good read as research.. Can you guess where I’ll be going soon?
Today I visited a real-life castle for the first time in my life. It was incredible. I’m not quite sure that everyone else on the trip had as good a time as I did in Perouges but I have to say that I was completely in my element. The entire place reminded me of scenes from Lord of the Rings and the whole time I just wanted Frodo to come walking up the cobblestone road to greet me.
Seriously, I think I was born to be royalty or something because I know that I belong in a castle. I’m a princess, everybody knows that. But today I also realized that the lifestyle of the royalty makes me happier than almost anything in the world. Yeah, I’m that high-maintenance. At least, that’s what my Dad has been telling me since I was about two years old. Now I’ve fully realized how right he was; although, I’m pretty sure I’ve known it this whole time.
Yeah, so I just realized how much both of those paragraphs differ from one another. One is total geek out and the other is complete brat. Funny thing is that they go perfectly hand in hand in my personality. I’m such a weirdo. But..
I am the princess.
